Your life is like a garden. If you tend to it and put in the work, it will be beautiful and vibrant. To grow and flourish, we need to experience the shadows and rain as much as we do the sun and the light. Even the most perfect gardens have weeds, so instead of trying to avoid them, acknowledge them and carefully pull them from your garden. When you remove the root of a weed, it won’t grow back so instead of avoiding issues, pain and fear…get to the root of them and address them and know that dark days will lead to light and growth.
Print and repeat the following poetic affirmation each morning before you head out the door (and tend to your garden).
Like a garden,
I tend to life.
Welcoming the showers
as I welcome the sun,
thankful for the nourishment.
Like a garden,
I tend to weeds.
Making room for flowers
Preferring never to be done,
grateful for growth and encouragement.
Like a garden,
I tend to the soil.
Searching the soul for hours,
making a foundation where there’s none,
mindful of my love and light advancement.
